Women's DBT Mindfulness Skills Group
Wednesday, April 26, 2017, 06:30am - 08:00pm
Hits : 2838
Contact Dr Amanda Trent, 434-295-7273

This group is for women who are survivors of sexual assault who struggle with overwhelming emotions, self-destructive behaviors, or difficulties in their relationships. We will be reviewing one of the modules in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)—Mindfulness Skills—over 8 weeks. Mindfulness has to do with the quality of awareness that a person brings to activities. Mindfulness skills focus on learning to be aware of on one thing at a time, and to take a non-judgmental stance. Worksheets and materials will be provided.  The group will be held Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm-8pm and will be a focused time of learning and practicing new skills. Group members are expected to be participating in individual therapy outside of group. New group members will be contacted by group leaders to go through a pre-group interview and orientation session.
