Volunteers have always played a vital role in SARA’s mission to assist and empower people who have experienced sexual assault. SARA seeks community members of any gender to join our team as a Hotline or Community Outreach Volunteer.
SARA could not provide the caring, supportive and dependable 24-7 service to the community without its deeply committed and compassionate Hotline Volunteers. Our well-trained volunteers provide information, referrals and crisis intervention to survivors and their families on SARA’s 24-hour hotline.
All potential Hotline Volunteers must submit a completed application form (below). Upon review, SARA’s volunteer coordinator will contact applicants to schedule interviews. Volunteers are required to complete 40 hours of training, which takes place either in the Spring or Fall, depending on interest. All staff members and volunteers are subject to a criminal background check. For more information, please contact Taylor Starns at firstname.lastname@example.org or at (434) 295-7273 ext. 27.
Community Outreach Volunteers:
Community Outreach Volunteers organize and participate in community awareness events and projects. As a Community Outreach Volunteer, you will team up with other people in our community who care about making positive change, and interact with the community at events; while also providing the necessary support for these events and projects to take place. Participation in our 12-hour training program is required.
Community Outreach Volunteers keep us connected to our community!
