The Sexual Assault Resource Agency (SARA) is seeking compassionate people to work as Emergency Advocates (Advocates) for victims of sexual assault and abuse. Emergency Advocates provide support and crisis intervention to survivors at the hospital emergency room or police department after office hours and on weekends. Emergency room calls may range from 2-6 hours.
SARA provides 24-hour support to direct and indirect victims of sexual violence. This includes female, male, and child victims. Advocates remain with the victim throughout the forensic/medical exam if the victim wishes. This is not a counseling or therapeutic position. Strong professional boundaries and an understanding of the limits of one’s competence and role are essential.
This position pays on a split rate, one for being on-call and one for providing ER accompaniment. There is a 40 hour staff training requirement which will be split between in person (zoom sessions) with a staff member and working on your own.
SARA is an equal opportunity employer and seeks a diverse workforce.
