Overview & SARA Services
SARA's Outreach Coordinators are happy to provide allied professionals, community groups, faith organizations, etc. with an overview of SARA's mission and our services in the community. The dynamics of sexual violence and its impact in our community provide a background for discussing the need for our services in the community and what SARA does to support survivors, educate community members, and to prevent sexual violence from occurring in the first place. These presentations will be tailored to meet each group's needs and focus area.
Preventing Sexual Violence in Daily Life
SARA trainers provide cutting-edge information about why sexual violence occurs, best practices for prevention, how our community is working to stop it, and what each person can do on a daily basis to help. We cover the scope of the problem, primary prevention (stopping sexual assault before it occurs), what we know about perpetrators and their communities, fighting stereotypes, building respect and equality, and how to create community-wide change, one child at a time.
Gender and Child Development
Whenever you’re in the presence of young people, you are influencing how they think about and perform gender. Learn about how pre-teens and teens are affected by, create, and perform gender, and how you can use your influence to have a positive impact on their experience of gender and community. We use the most recent research to explore gender, race, pop culture, peer pressure, and more.
Boys and Masculinity
Ideal for coaches, male mentors, and anyone who works with boys and young men.Similar to the Gender training, but with a specific focus on how we as adults impact the health of boys as we convey messages about masculinity and “what it means to be a man” through daily interactions.
